1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1/2 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. unsifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 small jar maraschino cherries 2 Tbsp. maraschino cherry syrup 1 Tbsp. butter In double boiler, melt 1 cup chocolate chips over 1-inch simmering water. Cream butter with sugar. Add egg, vanilla and melted chocolate. Beat until smooth. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to cream mixture, beating until smooth. Chill at least 1 hour. Wrap 1 tablespoon dough around cherry. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Frosting: Melt remaining chocolate chips with maraschino cherry syrup and 1 tablespoon butter. Frost top of cookies.
