Cupcake: 1/2 c. butter, softened 6 Tbsp. brown sugar 1 egg 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 6 Tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. baking soda Topping: 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed 1 egg 1 c. chocolate chips 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/8 tsp. salt 1/2 c. nuts Cream together butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and egg. Sift together flour, soda and salt and stir into creamed mixture. Spoon equal parts into 16 cupcake liners. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Topping: Beat sugar, egg and salt until thick. Stir in chocolate chips, nuts and vanilla. Spoon equal parts over cupcakes. Return to oven and bake an additional 15 minutes. Makes 16 servings.
