6 medium onions 2 lb. ground chuck 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt 1 tsp. black pepper 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine 1/2 lb. small shell macaroni 1 lb. medium sharp cheese, grated 2 small cans tomato sauce 1 can cream of mushroom soup Set aside 1/3 of grated cheese and one can of tomato sauce for top. Cook macaroni as directed on box. Drain and add butter. Saute onions in small amount of oil. Add beef, salt and pepper. Stir well. Cook only until red is gone. Add 2/3 of cheese to meat and stir until melted. Add 1 can tomato sauce and mushroom soup. Stir in macaroni. Put in baking dish. Cover top with can of tomato sauce and sprinkle cheese on top.
