1 large rutabaga 1/2 lb. streak of lean fat, washed and scored to rind 1 tsp. salt pepper to taste sugar to taste Cook meat in pot with enough water to cover meat. Peel rutabaga; cut in slices. Cook rutabaga in pot with meat for 15 to 20 minutes or until tender. Take out meat and rutabaga. Drain thoroughly. Cut up rutabaga and meat. Add pepper, sugar and additional salt, if needed. Add enough cornmeal, mixed with water, to make soup thick. Boil for a few minutes until soup is thick. Yields 6 servings.
