2/3 lb. salt meat, cut into strips 2 to 3 lb. turnips Wash tops and roots until clean. Cut off tops from roots. Slice roots in slices. Wash tops carefully, cutting out bruised ares and tough stems. In a large pot, bring water to boiling. Drop roots and greens in. Cook until just tender. Remove turnips from water and let drain. Fry the meat until crispy. Remove the meat from the pan.
