1 1/2 c. yellow corn meal 1 tsp. salt 3/4 tsp. soda 2 eggs, separated 1 1/3 c. buttermilk 1/4 c. shortening Sift dry ingredients together. Add milk to egg yolks; add to corn meal mixture. Add shortening and mix again. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour in greased pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
