4 c. sifted regular flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. salt 1 (1 lb.) pkg. orange slice candies, cut up 1 lb. mixed gumdrops (omit black gumdrops) 1 1/2 c. golden raisins 1/2 c. dark seedless raisins 1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts 1 c. butter or margarine 1 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. hot water 1 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 c. sweetened applesauce Sift together first 4 ingredients. Set aside. Combine next 5 ingredients. Add half of sifted ingredients. Mix until candy and nuts are well coated. Set side. Work butter or margarine with a spoon until soft. Gradually add sugar while beating; beat until light. Add eggs, one at a time; beat until light and fluffy. Combine and hot water and baking soda; mix well. Add alternately sweetened applesauce and sifted dry ingredients. Mix until smooth. Add gumdrop-nut mixture. Mix until well blended. Spoon into a greased and wax-paper lined 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 275 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until done. Cool thoroughly. Wrap tightly and store in refrigerator.
