BASIC POUND CAKE

3 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
6 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. lemon extract

Stir flour, baking powder and salt together 3 times. Cream
butter, shortening and sugar in large mixing bowl until light and
fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in milk and flavorings. Add flour mixture; mix well.

Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Place in cold oven.
Set oven temperature to 325 degrees. Bake for 1 1/2 hours. Cool in pan
for several minutes. Invert onto serving plate. Yields 16
servings.
