VELVET POUND CAKE

3 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. shortening
6 eggs
3 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening together. Add eggs, one at a
time. Continue to cream. Sift flour and baking powder together.
Add dry ingredients with milk and one teaspoon vanilla.

Grease and flour pan and pour batter into a 10-inch tube pan.
Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
