1 c. shortening 3 c. sugar 6 eggs 3 c. cake flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. soda 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. lemon extract Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, salt and soda and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Add lemon extract and mix well. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until cake tests done.
