Main Dish
2 15-oz. cans kidney beans
1 15-oz. can stewed tomatoes
1 large onion, chopped
l lb. hamburger
1 tsp. sugar
chili or other seasoning to taste
cornbread batter

Saute meat and onions in a frying pan. Add other ingredients and
heat mix. Transfer to a large casserole (or leave in the pan if
it's cast iron!). Cover evenly with cornbread batter. Bake in
preheated 400 degrees oven for 25 minutes or until wooden pick stuck into
the middle comes out clean. Serve hot.

Cornbread Batter
1 c. yellow corn meal
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1 lightly beaten egg
1 c. milk
1/3 c. vegetable oil

Combine dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Combine egg, milk,
and oil in another bowl and mix well. Combine liquid and dry
ingredients together and stir until just blended.
