6-7 lbs. pork loin spareribs
salt and pepper to taste
3 1-lb. cans Bavarian sauerkraut (mild)
1 1/2 c. chopped cooking apples
3/4 c. chopped onion
8 whole cloves
1/2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 c. chicken broth
Preheat broiler. Arrange cut ribs on broiler pan.
Salt and pepper all sides. Broil 6 inches from heat,
browning all sides (about 30 minutes).
Reduce oven to 325 degrees.
Drain sauerkraut well. In deep dish oven, combine kraut and
remaining ingredients. Arrange ribs on top of kraut. Cover and
bake 2 hours.
Baste twice with liquid. Do not let liquid cook away.Add more broth
Serve with potato pancakes.
