Caramelizing the condensed milk
1 14-oz can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
Remove label from can of sweetened condensed milk. DO NOT OPEN CAN.
Place can in a pot of boiling water, making sure that the top of
the can is covered with water. Boil for 3-4 hours, making sure
that the top of the can is always covered with water. Chill can
Remove from can as follows: Warm can by immersing in hot water for
one minute. Punch a hole in the bottom of the can. Remove top and
loosen the caramel from the sides of the can with a table knife
dipped in hot water. Empty caramel into bowl.
Adding other ingredients
1 8-oz. container pitted dried dates
1 pt. heavy whipping cream
Whip the heavy cream to a stiff peak following the directions on the
carton. Keep chilled.
Cut dates into small pieces using kitchen scissors. Fold the
caramelized milk and dates into the whipped cream, making sure to
mix thoroughly. Keep chilled until served.
