1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 1/2 c. water* 1 tsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 Tbsp. lemon or lime juice 6 c. cubed unpeeled apples 2 c. halved red seedless grapes 1 c. diced celery 1 c. walnuts halves, toasted *I usually do only 1/2 recipe since it makes a lot. Occasionally, I will replace 1/2 the water with maraschino cherry juice and add 1/2 cup sliced cherries. In a saucepan, combine sugar and flour; stir in water. Bring to a boil. Cook and boil until mixture thickens. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Cool to room temperature. In a large bowl, combine apples, grapes, celery and walnuts. Add dressing; toss gently. Refrigerate until serving. Yields 8 to 10 servings. This recipe is from an actual cookbook printed by Fundcraft Publishing! 1,000,000+ free recipes and free software at: Cookbooks.com!
