4 c. fresh broccoli florets, washed*
3/4 tsp. seasoned salt, divided
3 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. milk
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
*Frozen broccoli can be substituted for fresh. Prepare broccoli
according to package directions.
Place broccoli in large saucepan. Cover broccoli with water; add 1/4
teaspoon seasoned salt. Bring water to a boil over high heat on
stove top. Reduce heat to low and cook for approximately 8 minutes
until fork-tender; drain.
While broccoli is cooking, melt butter in another saucepan over low
heat on stove top. Whisk in flour and remaining 1/2 teaspoon
seasoned salt. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, whisking occasionally. Add
milk, whisking constantly, until well blended. Increase heat to
medium, whisking often. When sauce begins to thicken slightly, add
cream cheese. Whisk until well blended and cream cheese melts. Pour
sauce over warm broccoli, or serve on the side.
