1 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 cornstarch dash of salt 3 egg yolks, beaten (reserve egg whites for meringue) 1 heaping Tbsp. cocoa 2 c. Carnation milk 1 or 2 tsp. butter 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 (8-inch) pie shell (cooled) Mix all dry ingredients in top of double boiler. Heat milk; stir into dry ingredients. Add small amount of hot mixture to beaten egg yolks; add to milk mixture. Continue to whisk until thickened. Add butter and vanilla, stirring well. (Cool before placing in baked pie shell). Meringue: Beat egg whites until soft peaks form; add 6 tablespoons sugar. Continue beating until stiff and glossy peaks form. Spread evenly over filling. Place pie into hot oven (400 degrees) for few minutes until meringue is golden brown.
