1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 1/2 butter, cubed 2 lb. confectioners sugar 2 c. walnuts, chopped 2 tsp. maple flavoring 1 tsp. vanilla 4 c. (24 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips 2 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped 2 tsp. shortening Combine milk and butter in a small saucepan. Cook and stir over low heat until butter melts. Place sugar in a mixer bowl; add milk mixture and beat until smooth. Stir in walnuts, maple flavoring and vanilla. Roll into 3/4-inch balls; place on waxed paper lined baking sheets. Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour. Melt chocolate and shortening; stir until smooth. Dip balls in chocolate and place on waxed paper; let stand until set. Store in airtight container.
