1 stick butter 1 egg 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour (unsifted) 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 c. sugar 1 c. broken pecans 2 egg whites 1 c. dark brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Mix together like pie crust butter, egg, flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Pat down in a 9 x 12-inch oblong pan that has been oiled. Press into this broken pecan pieces. Top this with the following mixture. Whip until dry egg whites. To this, add brown sugar; mix until smooth. Add vanilla and mix well. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. Cut in small squares before cool. Improves with age.
