1 c. bread crumbs 1 c. milk 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine 1/2 c. mild cheese, cut into small pieces 1 egg slightly beaten 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. dry mustard Few grains cayenne pepper Soak bread in milk about 15 minutes. Melt butter or margarine over low heat with cheese; when cheese has melted, add soaked bread crumbs, egg, and seasoning. Cook over low heat until thickened. Serve over toasted bread or crackers.
