3 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. ground cloves
3/4 c. butter or margarine - softened
1 1/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. apple butter

Stir together flour, soda, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves.
Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.
Combine buttermilk and apple butter. Alternately add wet
ingredients to dry, mixing well after each addition. Pour into 2
greased and floured 9 inch round pans. (Or use a bundt cake pan).
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. (Bake about one hour for
bundt pan.) Cool thoroughly on cake rack before frosting.

Delicious, moist, and spicy.
