1 c. butter 2 c. sugar 4 eggs 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. soda 3 1/2 c. flour 1 - (8 oz.) box dates - chopped 1 lb. orange slice candy - cut in small pieces 2 c. pecans - chopped 1 c. Angel Flake coconut 1 c. orange juice 2 c. powdered sugar Cream butter and sugar; add eggs. Mix soda into the buttermilk. Add alternately with flour to mixture. Fold in dates, orange slices and coconut. Will fill 2 tube pans or 3 loaf pans. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Mix orange juice and powdered sugar together; pour over the cakes as soon as you take it from the oven. Let stand overnight in the pan. Recipe makes approx: 2 tube pans or 3 loaf pans.
