1 c. shortening 2 eggs 1 Tbsp. soda 4 c. flour 1 orange (juice and rind) 2 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1 Tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Cream shortening and sugar, beat in eggs, add milk and juice and grated rind of 1 orange. Mix in dry ingredients and drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees until browned. (Approx: 10 - 15 minutes). GLAZE: 1 lb. powdered sugar, slowly add milk, 1 tablespoon butter (grated rind optional) until stiff. Put on top of cookies.
