1 c. prunes 3/4 c. Crisco 2 eggs 2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 c. Quick rolled oats 1/4 c. water (cold) 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. brown sugar Scant 1/2 c. white sugar 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. cloves 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional) Simmer soft seeded prunes in small amount of water for a few seconds. Drain any liquid left on prunes into a 1/4 measuring cup. (I use a total of 1/4 cup liquid.) Cream shortening and sugars by hand, adding vanilla. Beat eggs with mixer on low speed into shortening and sugar until nicely creamed. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Stir into creamed mixture along with the prune liquid. Add rolled oats, prunes and chopped nuts. Drop by soup sized spoonfuls on ungreased (or very lightly grease) cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes or until lightly browned. This recipe is from an actual cookbook printed by Fundcraft Publishing! 1,000,000+ free recipes and free software at: Cookbooks.com!
