DATE LOAF CANDY ROLL

2 c. white sugar
3/4 c. canned milk
1 c. dates
1 c. chopped nuts
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix white sugar and canned milk together. Boil to a soft ball.
Remove from heat and stir in dates. Return to heat and cook for 4
minutes stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add chopped
nuts, butter, and vanilla. Beat until cool and firm. Place on
waxed paper and roll into a log. Put in refrigerator until cold,
then slice and serve.
