5 lb. potatoes, cubed 4 to 6 carrots, sliced salt 2 onions, chopped 6 ribs celery, chopped 1/2 c. chicken broth 1/4 c. minced garlic 1 gal. half and half heavy cream 1 gal. water 1/4 c. cornstarch 1/2 c. water Precook potatoes and carrots with salt. Cook next 4 ingredients until onions are clear. Mix all ingredients together. Heat heavy cream and 1 gallon water but do not boil. Thicken with cornstarch and 1/2 cup water. Add to mixture and simmer until thick. You can adjust the thickness by adding less or more cornstarch.
