DRY BLACK-EYED PEAS

1 lb. black-eyed peas
6 slices bacon or ham bone
1 tsp. salt

Place peas in pot and cover with water. Bring to boil. Remove from
heat. Cover and let sit for 1 hour.

Return pot to medium heat; add water to cover. Add meat and salt.
Cook until done, about 1 hour.

Serve on New Year's day.

Wash a dime and place in bowl before pouring up peas. The person who
finds the dime will be wealthy for the year. Not sure this is true,
but you will be surprised how many helpings your children will eat
trying to find the dime.
