CHOCOLATE PIE

3/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
4 Tbsp. flour
3 eggs, separated
2 c. milk
1 Tbsp. vanilla
pie shell

Mix sugar, cocoa and flour well. Add small amount of milk to
moisten. Beat in egg yolks. Add remaining milk. Cook over medium
milk, stirring continuously, until thick. Remove from heat and add
vanilla. Pour into pie shell.

Meringue: Beat egg whites until foamy. Add 1/4 teaspoon cream of
tartar. Beat until stiff. Add 6 tablespoons sugar slowly and beat
until peaks form. Put meringue on top of chocolate mixture and bake
at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Turn off oven and allow pie to cool in oven.
