MELANIE'S BROWNIE CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE

2 sticks butter (not margarine)
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. cocoa powder
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk

Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add whole eggs one at a time.
Beat until well blended. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately
with milk. Add vanilla and mix well. Grease and flour tube pan.
Fill with batter. Place on middle rack of oven. Bake 1 hour 25
minutes at 325 degrees. Frost with chocolate frosting when cake is hot.
Cake freezes well without frosting.

Cocoa Frosting:
1/2 c. margarine
1/4 c. cocoa powder
1 box confectioners sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk

Melt margarine in microwave. Add cocoa powder; beat until smooth.
Add milk. Heat in microwave until milk is warm. Add confectioners
sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Spread on cake. I put icing
on when cake is warm.

Note: Leave cake in pan 10 minutes before turning out on plate or
cooling rack.
