1/2 c. shortening 1 stick margarine 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 3 c. all-purpose flour 1 c. milk 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 Tbsp. vanilla 1 Tbsp. butter flavoring (optional) Cream shortening, butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating after each egg. Add dry ingredients and milk, mixing well. Add flavoring. Beat well. Pour into large tube pan that has been sprayed with a vegetable oil and flour spray. Place cake in cold oven. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Let sit in pan 10 minutes after removing from oven before placing on cooling rack.
