1/4 c. shortening
1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1-1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. thin sliced apples
Combine shortening, sugar and egg. Beat thoroughly; stir in milk.
Mix the flour, baking powder and salt thoroughly. Stir into egg
mixture just till smooth. Spread half the batter in a greased 9
inch square pan; cover with half the apples. Repeat with remaining
batter and apples.
1/2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
Blend together the topping ingredients and sprinkle over cake. Bake
at 375 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes,,, or till cake is set.
