1 c. raisins
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. water
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
Combine raisins, sugar, shortening, water and spices into a large
saucepan. Cook for five minutes at a rolling boil. Chill.
Sift together flour, baking powder and soda: stir thoroughly into
raisin mixture. Bake in a greased and floured pan about 30 minutes
at 350 degrees or until done. Frost or serve with whipped cream.
