5-1/2 to 6 c. flour
2 Pkg. yeast or 1 Tbsp.
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 c. milk
1/2 c. water
Measure flour by lightly spooning into cup. Combine 3 cups flour,
yeast, sugar, salt and soda. Heat liquids till very warm (120 degreesF.
to 130 degreesF). Add to dry ingredients; beat well. Stir in enough
flour to make a stiff batter. Put into two 8-1/4x4-1/2 inch pans
that have been greased and sprinkled with corn meal. Sprinkle on
tops also. Cover and let rise in warm place 45 minutes. Bake at
400 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from pans immediately and cool.
(Bread will not brown)
