INDIAN BREAD TACOS

4 c. flour
2 c. warm water
1 heaping Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. baking powder
meat filling*
shredded lettuce
chopped tomatoes
shredded cheese
taco or picante sauce or these
toppings: cinnamon and
sugar or honey

Mix flour, salt and baking powder together. Add water
and stir or knead thoroughly. Let stand in a warm place 30
minutes or more. Roll a ball of dough (tennis ball size) into
a circle no thicker than 1/4-inch. Fry in hot oil, turning to
lightly brown both sides (doesn't take long) and drain on paper
towels. Eat as other tacos with meat filling* (plain or with
kidney beans added) and lettuce, cheese and tomatoes, or put
honey or cinnamon and sugar on top. (Half recipe for 2 to 4
people.)
