2 c. milk
1 c. fat
1 or 2 yeast cakes
3 beaten eggs
4 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
6 c. fine flour

When the first katydid hollers, it's just six weeks
until frost.
Killen frosts are over when oak leaves are longer'n an
inch.
Now I ain't shore where Sally Lunn lived, but this
recipe shore does her memory honor.
Scald milk and add fat, when fat melts, cool to hand
temperature. Crumble yeast, add beaten eggs, sugar and salt.
Mix well and stir in flour. Beat thoroughly. Cover. Let rise
in a warm place until double in size. Punch down, spoon into
greased 9-inch ring mold, or pan and let double in size again.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Yields 16 servings. Serve
real hot with butter.
