FRESH STRAWBERRY BREAD

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. or less almond
extract
2 eggs, separated
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. crushed or chopped fresh
strawberries

Cream together butter, sugar and almond extract. Beat
in egg yolks, one at a time. Sift together flour, baking soda,
baking powder and salt. Add flour alternately with straw-
berries. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into strawberry
mixture. Line 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with greased waxed paper.
Turn batter into pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or
until cake tests done. Cool 15 minutes on rack. Remove from
pan and cool. Makes one loaf. Bread freezes well. Makes
delicious toast.
