DINNER BISCUITS

2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. instant nonfat dry milk
1 pkg. yeast
2 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. lukewarm water

Sift dry ingredients together into bowl. Cut in short-
ening until mixture is consistency of fine crumbs. Dissolve
yeast in water. Add to flour mixture and mix well. Knead on
floured surface gently until smooth. Roll out to 1/4-inch
thickness and cut with biscuit cutter. Place on greased baking
sheet and brush tops with melted butter, if desired. Bake in
preheated 400 degrees oven for about 10 minutes or until lightly
browned. Yields 20 biscuits. (This may be refrigerated for
several days in a tightly covered container.)
