WHOLE WHEAT BREAD|
3 c. whole wheat bread
3 to 4 c. all-purpose flour
2 pkg. dry yeast
1 Tbsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 c. water
1/2 c. honey
3 Tbsp. shortening
Combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour,
yeast and salt. Mix well. Heat milk, water, honey and short-
ening until warm. Add to flour mixture. Add egg and beat.
Stir in remaining flour to make a firm dough. Knead until
smooth, about 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl. Let rise in
warm place, about 1 hour. Divide into 2 parts. Let rise about
30 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees about 35 to 40 minutes until golden
brown. Remove from pans and cool.
