STEAMED DATE PUDDING

1 lb. stoned dates
1/2 lb. suet
1/2 c. sugar
1 scant tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 c. soft bread crumbs
2 eggs, well beaten

Grind or chop dates and suet. Mix all ingredients well,
adding the eggs last. Turn into well buttered molds and steam
2 hours, as directed. Serve with hard sauce or wine sauce.
Figs, raisins, currants, candied peel, prunes or nuts, alone or
in combination, may replace dates.
