BANANA PUDDING

1 3/4 c. sugar
4 or 4 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 or 2 1/4 c. milk
5 or 6 eggs
4 Tbsp. oleo
1 tsp. vanilla
vanilla wafers according to
taste
bananas according to taste

Mix sugar, cornstarch and milk and cook until warm.
Beat eggs and put them in warm mixture and add oleo and vanil-
la. Constantly beat pudding with electric mixer until it is as
thick as you want it (you can add a little more milk if it gets
too thick). Place vanilla wafers and bananas in dish and pour
pudding over them. Beat egg whites until very stiff, adding
about a teaspoon cream of tartar, 3/4 teaspoon cold water, dash
of salt, sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla flavoring. Put
topping on banana pudding and bake in 300 degrees oven until topping
is golden brown.
