3 c. sifted cake flour
1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. soft
1 3/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. white
1 1/4 c. milk
2 eggs
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Grease, then line pan with wax paper. Sift dry ingredi-
ents, cream shortening and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs, beat
until very light and fluffy, about 4 minutes, then at a low
speed add flour and milk, beat slow until smooth. Bake for 30
to 35 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack.
