PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS

1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 pkg. chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. First, in a large bowl cream
together butter and sugars. Then cream again, adding egg,
peanut butter and vanilla. For richer cookies, omit white
sugar and use brown sugar for both. Next, sift all dry ingre-
dients (except chocolate chips) together and mix into creamed
mixture. Add desired amount of chocolate chips or none if you
want plain peanut butter cookies. Then on a greased cookie
sheet, spoon batter into small balls about 1 1/2 to 2 inches
apart. Place in oven at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until
light brown. Makes 2 to 3 dozen.
