SPICED OATMEAL COOKIES|
1 c. raisins, steamed
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 c. oatmeal (quick-cooking)
6 Tbsp. juice from steamed
1/2 c. chopped dates
1 c. chopped pecans
Steam raisins in 1/2 cup water for 5 minutes; set aside.
Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift flour, salt, soda and
spices. Add with raisin liquid to creamed mix. Add vanilla.
Stir in oatmeal by hand. Mix well. Drop by spoon on greased
cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until
