BROWN SUGAR-ALMOND BARS|
1/2 c. butter or margarine,
1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 c. all-purpose flour
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 tsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. sliced almonds
3/4 tsp. vanilla
Cream together the 1/2 cup butter and powdered sugar
with electric mixer. Add flour; mix well. Pat into an
ungreased 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15
minutes. Melt remaining butter. Add brown sugar, 1 tablespoon
water and lemon juice; bring to boiling, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat; stir in almonds and vanilla. Spread over
crust. Bake 15 to 20 minutes more. Cool. Cut in bars while
