THE BEST DONUTS YOU EVER HAD

3 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. cooking oil
2 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. yeast
5 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. vanilla
9 c. flour

Heat buttermilk and water until warm. Add oil, salt,
yeast and sugar. Stir well making sure ingredients are dis-
solved. Then add 1 teaspoon baking soda and flour. Knead and
place in a greased bowl to rise until double in size. Roll out
1/2-inch thick and cut into donuts and let them raise again.
Fry in deep fat at 350 degrees. While still warm, dip in 1 cup sugar,
vanilla and enough water to make a thin glaze. Yield: 5 dozen.
