THE BEST PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE EVER

1 c. shortening, soft
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar, firmly
packed
2 eggs
1 c. peanut butter
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. soda
1 c. oatmeal
6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Beat shortening and sugars together until creamy. Add
eggs and beat well. Blend in peanut butter. Sift together
flour, salt and soda. Add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
Stir in oats and chocolate chips. Roll dough to form 1-inch
balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake in preheated
moderate oven to 350 degrees about 12 minutes. Makes 6 dozen.
