GOLDEN GERMAN POUND CAKE

2 c. sugar
1 c. butter, softened
3 1/2 c. cake flour
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp. double acting
baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
6 egg yolks
confectioners sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 10-inch Bundt
pan or two 9 x 5-inch loaf pans. (Bundt pan works best). In a
large bowl, measure sugar and butter; with mixer at high
speed, beat until light and fluffy. Add flour, milk, baking
powder, vanilla extract, salt and egg yolks. At low speed,
beat until well mixed, constantly scraping bowl with rubber
spatula. Beat at high speed 4 minutes occasionally scraping
bowl. Pour batter into pan and bake Bundt 1 hour, loaf pans 45
to 50 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Remove from
oven. Loosen sides with a knife. Let set 10 to 15 minutes
before removing from pan. Flavor improves with time. Make day
ahead. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
